- Baltimore City Department of Social Services – Extended Hours program (non‑traditional hours, additional salary)
- Baltimore County Department of Social Services – 6401 York Road, Baltimore, MD 21212

This full‑performance level role provides preventive or protective services to vulnerable adults, children, or families. Cases may involve suspected child or adult abuse or neglect, out‑of‑home placement, guardianship or emergency protective orders, adoption, or adult case management. Employees in this classification do not supervise.
Mandatory Qualifications- Must possess an MSW (Master of Social Work) with the specific major title of “Social Work” or be within six months of receiving one. No substitutions.
- One year of experience providing child welfare or adult services to vulnerable children, individuals, or families.
- Licensed as a Graduate Social Worker (by June 30 2018), Master Social Worker (by July 1 2018), Certified Social Worker, or Certified Social Worker‑Clinical by the Maryland State Board of Social Work Examiners before permanent appointment.
- Must have a valid Maryland motor vehicle operator’s license if assigned duties requiring vehicle operation.
- Complete an approved training program and pass a competency test prior to permanent employment.
Employees must meet continuing education standards set by the Department of Human Resources. Failure to obtain required credits will result in disciplinary action, including demotion, suspension, or dismissal.
Selection ProcessApplicants who meet all qualifications will be placed on an eligible list ranked as Best‑Qualified for up to twelve months. Hires will be made as vacancies become available.
