Victim & Witness Liaison - State's AttorneyThe Victim & Witness Liaison is responsible for assisting victims and witnesses before, during and after trial; making initial contact with victims by letter and/or phone prior to court and personal visits to home of victims and/or witnesses; and referring victims/witness to other agencies.
DutiesReview criminal charges, determine if victim contact is needed, if so, contact victim by letter or phone.
- Discuss pending criminal cases with victims and witness; prepare cases for trial by getting pertinent information from the victims and witnesses.
- Summon all necessary state witnesses and medical records (if needed).
- Assist victims with victim impact statements.
- Assist victims and witnesses before, during and after trial.
- Assist prosecutors with selecting cases that are appropriate for prosecution and determine which cases lack prosecutorial merit.
- Determine which cases are cross charges and bring to prosecutors’ attention
Bachelor’s degree in Administration of Justice, Sociology, Psychology or related field.
Some experience working with clients of the criminal justice system through a lawoffice, law enforcement agency, social service agency, etc.
Sincere desire to assist victims/witnesses who may be in a stressful situation.
Possession of a valid driver's license.
Ability to pass background check and drug screening.
