Work Hours:

40 hours per week, shift varies; weekends and holidays required.

# of Positions: 1

Salary: $41,385.76 – $52,334.62 per year for full‑time 40‑hour work. Salary is determined by experience, seniority, agency budget, and nature of the role. For union positions, the salary schedule is based on the applicable bargaining unit’s regulations.

Note:

If selected for a period of less than 90 days, the position will automatically revert to a short‑term status and the salary rate will be discussed during the interview.

Statement of

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform interpretive, educational, and administrative tasks in Visitor Services and Interpretation.
  • Staff an information desk or kiosk, providing visitor information and orientation, researching, developing, and presenting interpretive programs that reflect the park’s natural, cultural, and historical themes.
  • Coordinate special events and programs independently or in partnership with other public or private organizations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Wear an official uniform; uniform components are provided.

Housing is not provided by DCR.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Basic knowledge of natural and/or cultural history.
  • Experience working with the public and solid communication skills.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions and work in a team setting.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • First consideration is given to applicants who apply within the first 14 days.
  • Minimum entrance requirements: one year of full‑time, or equivalent part‑time, experience in interpreting, recreation programming, or environmental education; or an associate’s or higher degree in a related field. Degree can substitute for experience.
