The Shop Hand is an entry‑level position that supports the daily operations of the equipment shop at a heavy civil construction company. This role is ideal for someone who is dependable, eager to learn, and interested in working around heavy equipment, construction machinery, and automotive work. The Shop Hand helps keep the shop and equipment yard organized and will perform general labor tasks to support the team.
Key Responsibilities:- Clean and organize the shop, yard, and work areas
- Wash, grease, fuel, and help prepare equipment for jobs
- Move tools, parts, and materials around the shop and yard
- Perform simple tasks using hand and power tools under supervision
- Help load and unload equipment, supplies, and materials
- Follow safety rules and company procedures at all times
- Perform other general shop and labor duties as assigned
- High school diploma or GED preferred but not required
- Willingness to learn and take direction
- Interest in mechanical or hands‑on work experience
- Ability to work well with others and contribute to a team
- Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work on your feet for extended periods
- Comfortable working in a shop and outdoor environment
