Diesel Truck Lot Porter

Position Description

Permanent full‑time Diesel Truck Lot Porter at Ryder, Salisbury, MA.

• Hourly Pay: $24.00 per hour
• Schedule:
  
  Monday – Friday, First Shift 8:00 am – 5:00 pm (Part‑time hours available)
• CDL A or B required; CDL preferred or ability to obtain
• Entry level position with room to grow

• Exercise trucks/tractors to ensure roadworthiness and readiness for sale
• Guarantee that customer units are ready for delivery or transport from the UTC without issues
• Transport equipment around the yard ensuring organization and presentation
• Perform light mechanical work such as jump starts, battery installation, fluid management while troubleshooting issues
• Coordinate and communicate with local Ryder shops or third‑party service providers for repairs
• Ensure equipment is clean and presentable
• Submit weekly equipment exercise data via Teams
• Special projects as assigned
• Other duties as assigned

• High school diploma or equivalent
• At least one year of mechanical and/or customer service experience
• Knowledge of truck and trailer equipment (advanced level required)
• Valid driver’s license with ability to meet Ryder’s driving qualifications
• Ability to work outdoors and handle units, exercising, lot management, customer pick‑ups
• Customer focus and support
• Solid written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Organized and able to multitask
• Light computer skills – tablet for checking/inspecting units, e‑mail
• Pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, road test, background and motor‑vehicle check
