ESL Teacher

Reports to:

Principal(s), ESL Lead Teacher, and/or Director of Federal Programs

Purpose:

To serve English Learners (ELs) as they acquire academic and social English language proficiency in grades K-12. To provide a safe learning environment that supports the English language development and academic success of English Learners.

Key

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning.

* Act as a liaison between students, school staff, and family.

* Administer state required assessments.

* Schedule and deliver instruction that is aligned to needs of the students based on the LIEP matrix.

* Maintain student data, records, and documentation for each student and update as needed.

* Design and deliver ESL instruction based on the WIDA Standards.

* Attend parent/teacher conferences of English Learners as needed.

* Collaborate with regular education teachers to share instructional strategies for English Learners.

* Design and deliver parent engagement activities at the school site(s).

* Design and deliver professional development at the school site(s) that supports English Learners.

* Maintain a high level of organizational skills.

* Attend ESL staff meetings.

* Participate in professional development opportunities.

* Perform other appropriate duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Term of Employment: 10 months employment
