Purpose: To serve English Learners (ELs) as they acquire academic and social English language proficiency in grades K‑12. To provide a safe learning environment that supports the English language development and academic success of English Learners.

Key

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning.
  • Act as a liaison between students, school staff, and family.
  • Administer state required assessments.
  • Schedule and deliver instruction that is aligned to needs of the students based on the LIEP matrix.
  • Maintain student data, records, and documentation for each student and update as needed.
  • Design and deliver ESL instruction based on the WIDA Standards.
  • Attend parent/teacher conferences of English Learners as needed.
  • Collaborate with regular education teachers to share instructional strategies for English Learners.
  • Design and deliver parent engagement activities at the school site(s).
  • Design and deliver professional development at the school site(s) that supports English Learners.
  • Maintain a high level of organizational skills.
  • Attend ESL staff meetings.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities.
  • Perform other appropriate duties as assigned by the supervisor.
