Job Summary
Rowan-Cabarrus Community College is seeking a 9‑month full-time Philosophy Instructor. The faculty member will teach on campus in Salisbury (North), Concord (South or CBTC), Kannapolis (College Station or NCRC) and will be expected to participate in committees, complete administrative tasks related to transfer advising and student retention, meet professional development and college deadlines, and serve as a faculty partner (mentor) to adjunct philosophy faculty.
Required
Education / Experience
- Master’s degree or higher in Philosophy or Ethics; or a master’s degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours of related coursework and a focus on Philosophy and/or Ethics.
Duties & Responsibilities Successfully prepare, manage, and deliver course content to achieve objectives, accommodate diverse learning styles, and meet student learning outcomes.Actively engage students and provide prompt, objective, respectful, and effective feedback.Update, communicate, and follow course syllabus content in accordance with instructions and administrative guidance.Work collaboratively with the college’s support services to identify and address students’ academic support needs.Utilize college technology for instruction and operational processes, including the learning management system, email and calendaring solutions, document management systems, student information system, and employee portals.Meet deadlines by maintaining and submitting accurate class records, employee records/requests, and other assigned tasks.When applicable, ensure laboratories are appropriately stocked and equipment is safe.Support student mentoring, advising, registration, and recruitment efforts as appropriate.Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills within the discipline and maintain licensure when applicable.Facilitate a positive, student‑centered, professional environment among students, faculty, and staff.Participate in college meetings, events, and committees as required.Attend and participate in the annual graduation ceremony.Supplemental Questions
