Historypart-Time Adjunct Professor

The Division of Liberal Arts and Humanities is seeking qualified adjunct faculty to facilitate courses in African American History by delivering high-quality instruction in flexible formats, including in person and potentially hybrid or online classes. Adjunct faculty play a critical role in supporting student success, particularly for non-traditional students balancing education with work, family, and other responsibilities.

Essential duties and responsibilities include teaching assigned courses in accordance with established curriculum and academic standards, facilitating engaging, student-centered learning experiences tailored to adult learners, providing clear course expectations, timely feedback, and fair assessment of student performance, maintaining regular communication with students and responding promptly to questions or concerns, fostering an inclusive, respectful, and supportive classroom environment, submitting required documentation, including syllabi, attendance, grades, and course reports, in a timely manner, participating in departmental meetings or training sessions, and other duties as assigned.

Education/experience required includes a master's degree in the teaching discipline or a related field (required); doctorate preferred for some subject areas, prior teaching experience in higher education, adult education, or a related setting preferred, experience working with adult or non-traditional students strongly preferred, strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills, ability to teach in flexible schedules, including evenings and weekends, experience teaching blended, hybrid, and online classes are a plus.
