Job Title: Media Specialist
Job Summary: The Media Specialist is responsible for managing the school media center, promoting literacy, and supporting students and staff with research and educational resources. This role involves organizing materials, facilitating access to digital resources, and creating an inviting environment that encourages reading and learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Media Center Management: Oversee the daily operations of the media center, including cataloging, organizing, and maintaining the library collection.
- Resource Management: Acquire and manage books, periodicals, digital resources, and other materials to support the curriculum and student interests.
- Literacy Promotion: Develop and implement programs and activities to promote reading and literacy among students. Organize book clubs, reading challenges, and author visits.
- Research Support: Assist students and staff with research needs, including guiding them in the use of library resources, databases, and online research tools.
- Instructional Support: Collaborate with teachers to integrate library resources into the curriculum. Develop and deliver lessons.
- Digital Resource Management: Manage the library's digital resources, including e-books, databases, and online subscriptions. Ensure students and staff have access to these resources and provide training on their use.
- Media Center Environment: Create a welcoming and inclusive environment that encourages students to use the media center for reading, studying, and research. Design and maintain attractive displays and bulletin boards.
- Technology Integration: Stay updated on new technologies and integrate them into the library’s services. Provide training and support for using media center technology and digital resources.
- Professional Development: Stay current with trends in library science, education, and technology. Participate in professional development opportunities and attend relevant conferences and workshops.
Salary: $48,000 to $59,000 Per Year
