Position Title and Classification
Engineering Technician I (S) – Position Number – Grade NC07.
Responsibilities- Perform technical duties supporting engineers and other professionals in areas such as construction inspection, surveying, materials testing, materials sampling, erosion control inspection, and construction traffic control audits on assigned projects.
- Inspection for compliance and/or code; collection and analysis of field data; testing of materials; review and interpret design plans; analysis of engineering related data and/or product data.
- Construction layout, measuring, staking, marking, and clearing brush.
- Other related duties as required.
- Exposure to high traffic volumes, work at heights, and on bridge substructures and superstructures.
- Safe operation of manual tasks involving bush axe and other tools on steep terrain.
- Ability to lift and carry at least 50 pounds; carry testing equipment over rough and steep terrain.
- Work occasional nights, weekends, and during snow/ice events.
- Must have safety-toed shoes. Valid driver’s license preferred.
- Knowledge and understanding of general concepts, practices, and theories used in construction, construction inspection, and/or construction surveying.
- Skill in the use of computer equipment, iPad and software.
- Experience maintaining standard daily records and reports.
- Experience working in a team environment to complete assignments.
- Knowledge of standards and specifications and plan reading experience.
- Proficient in record keeping, engineering testing equipment, and safe operation of motor vehicle.
Associate's degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology or assigned discipline from an appropriately accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
SalaryGrade NC07 – $37,377 to $65,408.
