Job Description
We are seeking a Controls Engineer for our Salisbury, North Carolina Plant.
Responsibilities- Recommend equipment improvements and/or manufacturing methods that would result in improved quality or greater efficiency.
- Coordinate all mechanical/electrical system modifications with external vendors, maintenance personnel, and Facility Engineering Manager regarding automation control.
- Organize and maintain all system documentation (mechanical/electrical prints, software documentation and backups, path problems, robot configurations and parameters).
- Outline and maintain maintenance practices for automated systems and programs.
- Design and implement software, electrical and mechanical automated systems from concept to full development and production launch.
- Support and assist maintenance personnel with diagnosing software and electrical system problems.
- Support multiple PLC and electrically controlled automated systems.
- Design, implement and support all human-machine interface (HMI) hardware and software for automated systems.
- Apply electrical and electronic theory and related knowledge to design, build, repair, calibrate, and/or modify electrical components, circuitry, controls and machinery.
- Review equipment for electrical and electronic controls and recommend action to implement.
- Assist in upgrading equipment.
- Develop control-wiring schematics and maintain files.
- Maintain all electrical and electrical upgrades on software and in hard copy in an orderly manner.
- Maintain backup files for all PLC and robotic programs in an orderly manner.
- Create documentation for production support and data collection.
- Recommend stock items and quantities for equipment spare parts and production materials.
- Recommend preventative maintenance items and schedules for equipment.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
- At least five years of experience in practical application of engineering technologies to manufacturing processes with emphasis on automation, programming, vision systems, and control systems.
- Experience troubleshooting and programming robotics, PLCs, and electronics with automated equipment or machinery.
- Experience in an engineering field within a manufacturing environment.
- Competence with PLCs, including programming.
- Competence with personal computer Windows applications including Microsoft Project, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and AutoCAD.
