Engineering Technologist I / II

The position may be filled as an Engineering Technologist I or as an engineering technologist II, depending on the selected candidate’s experience.

Engineering Technologist I

This is the first level of the non‑Engineer degreed technical support role. The Engineering Technologist I applies technical expertise to solve simple problems and provides oversight of work in a specific area of developing expertise under high direction and close supervision.

The Engineering Technologist II applies technical expertise to solve more complex problems and provides oversight and direction of work in a specific area of expertise under general supervision.

• Applies technical expertise in the identification, analysis and resolution of problems in the area of expertise.
• Ensures accomplishment of business goals through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring of work activities.
• Prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and sketches.
• Conducts engineering and related studies.
• Continually improves job‑related, technical and professional knowledge, skills and performance.
• Develops positive working relationships to coordinate work activities.
• Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Maintains accurate records and files.
• Supports the company’s goals and represents the company positively and professionally.

Associate Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology with no experience, or 2+ years equivalent industry experience without a degree.

Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Engineering Technology with no experience, or 2+ years of experience with an Associate Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology, or 4+ years of equivalent experience without a degree.

• Experience in the utility industry.
• Understanding of basic principles of project management.
