Hotel Director of Sales - Dual position covering Courtyard Marriott & Holiday Inn Express & Suites Principle Responsibilities & Position Purpose
To maximize customer satisfaction and overall profitability by directing revenue-generating activities per the Business Plan and Monthly Action Plan Calendar. Coordinates sales service activities to meet company and brand standards. Responsible for revenue production, achieving or exceeding planned revenue objectives for occupancy and ADR. Manages all sales areas to maintain professional relationships locally.
Pre-Requisites (Requirements)- 3+ years of sales experience at a branded hotel (preferred)
- Minimum associate degree; four‑year college or hospitality degree preferred, or equivalent experience
- Brand certification programs preferred
- Professionalism, honesty, trustworthiness
- Excellent attendance and punctuality
- Perform major life activities: standing, lifting, bending, learning, reading, concentrating, thinking, communicating
- Sit or stand for eight hours, bend, stretch, reach
- Work schedule varies; may include holidays, weekends, evenings; long hours sometimes required
- Push or pull 60 lbs; lift or carry 30 lbs
Knowledgeable in
- Entire property, staff services, hours, room types, locations, rates, discounts
- Phone etiquette and answering procedures
- Local shopping, dining, entertainment, travel directions
- Daily operations, event bulletin boards, updates on procedures
- Manager on Duty functions as scheduled
- Computer literate: PMS, Sales Pro, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines
- Understand financial data, perform basic arithmetic
- Handle stress, high‑pressure situations, guest complaints, resolve them satisfactorily
- Create new business, expand existing via cold calls, site visits, prospecting, blitzes, internet
- Assimilate complex information, modify as needed
- Multi‑task, detail oriented, service centric
- Communicate via phone, mail, written messages; relay pertinent info with log books
- Manage time effectively
- Assist guests professionally with a hospitable attitude
- Develop and implement sales and marketing strategies to achieve revenue goals
- Analyze current and potential markets; identify new opportunities through market intelligence
- Set sales goals aligned with budget/profitability
- Coordinate marketing plan and top‑line budget with GM
- Work with GM and Revenue Manager on booking parameters
- Develop annual sales goals for staff; monitor achievements, adjust strategies as needed
- Approve Annual Business Plan
- Supervise sales staff to meet sales goals
- Implement strategies to improve market penetration
- Maximize sales productivity via proven brand techniques
- Track call productivity, revenue goals per staff, counsel on techniques
- Achieve/exceed monthly retention %, Rev Par, and revenue targets
- Formulate projects to increase sales volume and profitability per market areas
- Analyze sales statistics for profitability
- Review market analysis for client needs, occupancy, rates
- Meet budgeted sales and profit margin; evaluate and confirm business
- Qualify prospective leads for profitability
