Job Summary
Wastequip has an immediate opportunity for a MIG Welder to support our Salisbury, NC manufacturing operation. The role requires expertise in MIG welding techniques, focusing on the assembly of components, parts, and structures. A strong ability to interpret technical drawings and adhere to work orders is essential. Starting rate: $24.29 plus full‑time benefits.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Positions parts in jigs or fixtures on bench or floor, or clamps parts together along layout marks.
- Lays out, positions, and tack welds work pieces.
- Welds along vertical, horizontal, and overhead weld lines.
- Connects regulator valves to oxygen and fuel gas cylinders for cutting torch.
- Toggles regulator valves to activate gas flow, lights torch, and adjusts gas mixture and pressure to obtain desired flame.
- Holds and guides torch at the proper angle to cut metal.
- Examines weld for bead size and other specifications.
- Scuffs or grooves welds and parts.
- Chips or grinds off excess weld, slag, or splatter.
- Completes tasks while adhering to production schedules.
- Communicates any issues or quality concerns to the department supervisor.
- Ensures compliance with all safety and quality standards.
- Operates all tools and equipment safely.
- Reports any safety issues immediately to the manager.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Must pass a 2G welding test in the GMAW process with .045 solid wire.
- Six months of MIG welding experience required.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Knowledge of basic math and tape‑measure reading.
- Ability to read blueprints and measuring tape (preferred).
- Experience in a fast‑paced production environment preferred.
- Ability to pass all EHS requirements.
- Understanding of manufacturing methods and procedures.
- Capability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and perform basic mathematical operations.
- Ability to follow instructions under limited supervision.
