Cardiology, ICU Nurse, Emergency Medicine
Job Description
Join a fast-paced Cardiac/Stroke unit as a Travel Registered Nurse specializing in telemetry. In this 12-hour night role, you’ll care for a high-volume mix of cardiovascular and stroke-focused admissions and post-procedure monitoring, including pacemaker and implanted cardioverter/defibrillator related workflows, cardiac catheterization recovery, TR bands, and post-interventional peripheral vascular procedures without sheaths. You’ll also manage unstable angina, low-risk chest pain evaluations, CHF, dysrhythmias, and new CVA/TIA patients when they present to the unit.
Expect 1:5–6 patient assignments that can fluctuate based on unit needs, with occasional surges where comfort with a 6-patient workload is essential. The unit turns over approximately 78–90 patients weekly, so your shift will include frequent admission-to-discharge flow supported by a team lead for admissions and discharges. You’ll run and titrate cardiac drips such as Cardiazem, Dopamine, and Amiodarone, using telemetry and pulse oximetry as you work through each patient’s monitoring needs.
This assignment includes telemetry testing requirements prior to start and requires ACLS, BCLS, and NIH certification. You’ll also use unit tools such as Pyxis and Dimensions (Epic), working within SBAR communication to keep care efficient and coordinated.
