Must-Have:Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience.
Unit will accept first-time travelers.
Strong Med-Surg background required.
Must be willing to float to all areas holding Med-Surg patients.
Every other weekend availability is required.
RTO after booking is not allowed and cannot be resolved onsite.
Any call-offs or additional RTO on unit could possibly lead to a cancellation.
The unit handles a range of diagnoses, including COPD, pneumonia, hip fractures, and general surgery.
Oncology experience is preferred but not required.
Candidates must demonstrate skills in cardiac monitoring and emergency response.
Experience with interpretation of dysrhythmias and use of rapid response/code teams is essential.
Must have IV therapy and phlebotomy skills, including blood product administration and central line care/management.
Candidates should be familiar with isolation precautions and PPE.Telemetry experience is preferred, specifically in management of dysrhythmias.
Professional topics to be covered in orientation include respiratory skills, specifically nasal cannula and non-invasive airway management.
Unit staffing ratios are typically 1 nurse to 6 patients.
Daily census averages around 31 patients.
Interdisciplinary support includes IV teams, respiratory services, physical therapy, and social services.
Pre-approved time off is limited to one period.
Floating within or near the facility may be necessary.
