American Traveler is hiring a Cardiac Telemetry RN with 2+ years of cardiac tele experience for a fast-paced primary cardiac and stroke unit requiring NC or compact RN licensure.
Details- Cardiac Telemetry unit serving as the primary cardiac and stroke unit
- Night shift, 3x12 hours, 18:45-07:15
- Target patient ratio of 1:5-6, which may fluctuate based on unit needs
- Every other weekend required, including 2 Mondays and 2 Fridays in a 6-week period
- On-call requirement with frequency dependent on patient census
- Floating required within or near the facility
- Self-scheduling with leadership oversight, no block scheduling
- Cares for pre/post pacemaker, ICD, and cardiac catheterization patients, TR bands, and post uncomplicated peripheral vascular/cardiac interventional procedures without sheaths
- Manages patients with unstable angina, low-risk chest pain, CHF, dysrhythmias, and new CVA/TIA cases
- Titrates cardiac drips such as Cardizem, Dopamine, and Amiodarone
- Unit turns over approximately 78-90 patients per week with team lead support for admissions/discharges
- Uses telemetry, pulse ox, high-flow O2, and non-rebreather masks (palliative use only)
- BiPAP use limited to chronic cases; no new BiPAP initiation
- Documentation and communication via Pyxis, EPIC (Dimensions), and SBAR
- Active NC or compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of Cardiac Telemetry experience required, regardless of travel experience
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Preferred experience with EPIC charting system
- Skilled in IV therapy/phlebotomy, peripheral line care, and management of cardiac and vasoactive drips
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, and rapid response/code team utilization
- Comfortable managing pre/post cardiac cath, pre/post cardiac surgery, and pacemaker patients
- Experience with oxygen administration and non-invasive airway management
- Provide direct patient care in a high-acuity, fast-paced cardiac and stroke unit
- 36 hours of unit orientation required, with availability needed every day of week one
- Navy blue or white scrubs (or a mix) and Novant t-shirts permitted; matching jackets required and no crocs with holes
- Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
- RTO up to 7 days may be auto-approved (excluding holidays); no RTO permitted during the first week of assignment
- Additional RTO after booking is not allowed and may result in cancellation
- First-time travelers considered, provided they meet the 2-year Cardiac Tele experience requirement
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travel candidates
- Former Novant Health or New Hanover PERM/PRN/EP employees must wait 12 months before reapplying, with facility approval required
- Travel pairs allowed if assigned to different units and disclosed at submission
- Weekly hospital orientation conducted for incoming travelers
- Unit periodically houses COVID-positive patients using high-flow oxygen and BiPAP support
