Security Director

STGi is seeking qualified candidates for this position in connection with an active Request for Proposals (RFP). Hiring for this role is contingent upon STGi's selection as the successful awardee.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement security policies, procedures, and protocols to safeguard the nursing home facility.
  • Conduct regular security assessments and risk evaluations to identify vulnerabilities and implement proactive measures.
  • Supervise security personnel, ensuring compliance with protocols, regulations, and standards.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and training to security staff to enhance knowledge, skills, and effectiveness.
  • Utilize security cameras, access control systems, and other surveillance technologies to monitor premises for suspicious activities.
  • Respond promptly to security alarms, emergency calls, and incidents, coordinating appropriate response and intervention measures.
  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans for medical emergencies, fire outbreaks, natural disasters, and security threats.
  • Conduct regular drills, training exercises, and simulations to ensure staff readiness for emergencies.
  • Collaborate with nursing home management, department heads, and external stakeholders to address security concerns and promote a culture of safety.
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, and visitors to provide guidance, assistance, and reassurance regarding security matters.
  • Investigate security incidents, document information, collect evidence, and prepare incident reports in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of security-related activities, incidents, and responses.
Required Skills
  • Management and supervisory experience as a sworn law enforcement officer in a secure facility, including experience at the level of Security Director.
  • Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Knowledge of regulations governing activity services in nursing care facilities.
  • Ability to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of residents.
  • Skill in dealing tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the general public.
  • Leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel.
  • Patience, tact, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm for handling residents at varying maturity levels.
  • Willingness to seek out new methods and principles, incorporating them into existing activity services.
  • Member in good standing of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) and Academy of Certified Social Workers (ACSW).
  • Ability to relate information concerning a resident's condition.
Required Experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in security management or law enforcement, preferably in a healthcare or nursing home setting.
  • Management and supervisory experience as a sworn law enforcement officer in a secure facility, including leadership at the level of security director or higher.
  • Proven leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to effectively manage and motivate security personnel.
  • Strong knowledge of security principles, techniques, and best practices, including access control, surveillance, and emergency response.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proficiency in utilizing security systems, surveillance equipment, and computer applications.
  • Ability to remain calm, composed, and decisive in high-pressure situations and emergency scenarios.
  • Certification in CPR, First Aid, and other relevant emergency response training is desirable.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
Working Conditions /

Physical Requirements
  • Works in office areas as well as throughout the facility and its premises.
  • Subject to frequent interruptions.
  • Involves interaction with residents, family members, personnel, and visitors under all conditions.
  • Works beyond normal hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary. On call 24 hours a day, 7 days per week.
