Position: Telecommunicator
Division: Communications Center
Department: Livingstone Campus Police/Public Safety Department
Reports to: Telecommunicator Team Lead Supervisor
Position SummaryTelecommunicator will be responsible for answering incoming emergency and non-emergency calls to the Communications Center. Telecommunicator will process and evaluate information received from calls and dispatch units to the incident. Telecommunicator will monitor multiple camera systems and document calls and security checks from public safety and police officers throughout a shift.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Receive emergency and non-emergency calls
- Utilize technology such as computers, radio systems, telephones
- Monitor surveillance cameras
- Dispatch police and public safety officers to emergency and non-emergency calls
- Monitor and coordinate police and public safety unit activity
- Maintain status and locations of police and public safety personnel
- Create and maintain automated logs for police and public safety personnel
- Ability to print identification cards using the Matrix System Ability to use the Regroup Program for Campus-wide alerts
- Other duties as assigned
- Must be 21+ years of age
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- 2 years’ experience as a Telecommunicator preferred Successfully complete drug screen and background investigation
- Work rotating shifts to maintain 24-hour coverage of Communications Center as needed
- Must be able to use excel and word documents on a computer
- Must have a valid NC driver’s license or able to obtain one
- Must work during inclement weather
- Must be able to obtain CPR & First Aid certification
