Job Overview
Plumber II (S) – Position Number , Grade NC08
Salary Range: $39,244 - $68,679
Location:
Piedmont Correctional Institution, Salisbury, N.C. (Rowan County), Medium male prison housing 800 inmates. The position reports to the Facility Maintenance Supervisor.
Key duties include the installation, maintenance, and repair of water, gas, air, and waste disposal systems within the facility.
- Install, maintain, and repair water, gas, air, and waste disposal systems.
- Diagnose plumbing issues, locate leaks or malfunctions, and perform necessary repairs efficiently.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and building codes to plan and complete installations.
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on pipes, fixtures, valves, and related equipment.
- Ensure all work complies with local plumbing codes, safety regulations, and standards.
- Operate plumbing tools and equipment safely, including pipe cutters, threading machines, and testing devices.
- Maintain records of work performed, materials used, and repairs completed.
- Coordinate with supervisors on unusual or complex issues.
- May guide or assist offenders on routine tasks.
- High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and at least two years of experience in the repair, replacement, or construction of piping systems, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Working knowledge of the methods of installation and repair of plumbing systems (preferred).
- May require appropriate licensure by the governing board or commission based on the nature of work performed.
