Controller, Accounting, Financial Compliance

A global organization is seeking an Assistant Controller / Controller to join its finance leadership team. This is a highly visible role that will partner closely with senior finance leadership and play a key role in strengthening accounting operations, enhancing financial controls, and supporting ongoing business transformation initiatives.

The ideal candidate will bring a combination of strong technical accounting expertise, operational finance experience, and leadership capabilities within a complex, multi-entity environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities
• Oversee general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and financial reporting processes
• Ensure compliance with US GAAP and internal control requirements
• Partner with finance leadership to improve accounting processes, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities as needed
• Manage and mentor accounting team members while helping develop a high-performance finance organization
• Coordinate with external auditors and support annual audit activities
• Assist with implementation of process improvements, automation initiatives, and finance transformation projects
• Partner with cross-functional stakeholders across operations, FP&A, tax, and treasury
• Support integration, restructuring, and organizational change initiatives as the business continues to evolve

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• CPA strongly preferred
• 8+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience
• Prior experience as an Assistant Controller, Controller, or similar leadership role
• Strong understanding of US GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting
• Experience operating within a multi-entity, manufacturing, industrial, construction, engineering, energy, or asset-intensive environment preferred
• Demonstrated leadership experience managing and developing teams
• Strong systems aptitude and experience working with different ERP platforms
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, and evolving organization

Preferred Experience

• Public accounting foundation (Big 4 or large regional firm preferred)
• Cost accounting exposure
• Global finance operations experience
