Overview
We are seeking an analytical, detail-oriented, and proactive Accounting Analyst, Management Accounting to join our Controllers team. This is an excellent opportunity for a team member looking to deepen their financial acumen and make a significant impact on our operational efficiency.
As an Accounting Analyst in Salt Lake City, you'll report to the Accounting Manager and join a dynamic Management Accounting department. You will be responsible for owning standard accounting close processes, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and building relationships with key retail partners. This role is ideal for a collaborative professional looking to combine financial discipline with operational business partnering in a corporate environment.
ResponsibilitiesOperational Accounting Close
- Own day-to-day management accounting processes, including month-end/fiscal close, preparing journal entries, and completing balance sheet reconciliations.
- Identify and recommend actionable process improvements and business cost-reduction strategies.
- Build and maintain relationships with key corporate partners, including Finance, Tax, Audit, Financial Planning, Merchandise Planning & Allocation, and Supply Chain.
- Compile, structure, and analyze financial data to support forecasting models.
- Perform root cause analysis on discrepancies, maintain key financial controls, and ensure compliance with internal accounting policies.
- Develop and enhance operational performance metrics and reporting templates to assist leadership decision-making.
- Support the onboarding of new hires and assist in training associates on core accounting tools and processes.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related field is required.
- 1–3 years of professional accounting or corporate finance experience.
- Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and basic accounting procedures.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, data formatting).
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills; excellent written and verbal communication.
