JOB SUMMARY

Assists in the management of financial reporting including the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) and the Schedule of Expenditures for Federal Awards (SEFA). Monitors and analyzes interim monthly financial reports. Performs research and provides training in financial reporting and accounting.

This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in complex governmental financial reporting while working collaboratively with an experienced team and receiving guidance and support. The position works alongside the Financial Reporting Manager to assist in preparing the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) and the Schedule of Expenditures for Federal Awards (SEFA), monitors and analyzes interim monthly financial reports, and performs research and provides training in financial reporting and accounting.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting or Finance plus four (4) years of related experience; OR an equivalent combination of related education and experience. Coursework from an accredited college or university through Intermediate Accounting is required.

Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is preferred.

Preference may be given to individuals with previous governmental accounting and auditing experience.

Due to the nature of this position, the successful applicant must pass a required background check through fingerprinting and enrollment in the continuous RAP Back (Record of Arrest and Prosecution Back) program in accordance with current County Human Resources policy requirements.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Monitors and analyzes interim monthly obligation versus budget and revenue versus budget reports for County departments to ensure accounting transactions are properly recorded throughout the year. Audits and reconciles balance sheet accounts.
  • Assists with preparation and review of the fund financial statements, combining schedules and the notes to the financial statements. Assists with the preparation of the notes in the financial statements.
