Position: Program Assistant I

Overview

USU Extension in Salt Lake County is seeking a qualified Program Assistant I to support Project CREST, a school-based initiative designed to strengthen family engagement, enhance school-family partnerships, and build resilience among students and families.

This position provides routine programmatic, administrative, marketing, educational, and logistical support for the Project CREST team. Under the direction of a program coordiinator, the Program Assistant I asists with event logistics, prepares program materials, supports marketing outreach, handles basic recordkeeping, and other school and family events.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong organizational, communication, customer-service, and problem-solving skills. The position requires the ability to manage multiple deadlines, coordinate activities across participating schools, work collaboratively with Project CREST coordinators and coaches, and maintain accurate records and materials.

This position works in the USU Extension Salt Lake County office and at participating schools and community locations throughout Salt Lake County. Some evening work will be required to support Project CREST workshops, trainings, and family events.

This is a grant-funded position, and continued employment is contingent upon the availability of grant funding.

Responsibilities
  • Event & Program Coordination
    • Assist with event logistics for Project CREST workshops, trainings, evidence-based programs, family events, and other project activities across participating schools by communicating with schools, Project
    • CREST staff, vendors, and community partners to confirm schedules, locations, staffing, attendance needs, and other event details.
    • Distribute event assignments, schedules and reminders to facilitators and employees.
    • Help order food, supplies, equipment, printed materials, and other resources needed for Project CREST activities.
    • Assist with onsite event preparation, setup, implementation, and cleanup as needed.
    • Assist coordinators and coaches with trainings, meetings, and professional development activities.
  • Program Materials & Resource Management
    • Prepare, organize, inventory, and distribute lesson materials, activity supplies, handouts, and other program resources.
    • Assist with preparing and maintaining educational and training materials, including presentations, facilitator notes, parent handouts, lesson resources, website content, and program emails.
  • Communications, Marketing & Outreach
    • Follow established processes for Project CREST promotional materials, including flyers, social media content, posters, stickers, and outreach materials for use by staff, schools, families, and community partners using established university and project branding guidelines.
  • Education & Direct Service Delivery
    • Assit with or deliver pre-approved educational lessons and activities to youth.
  • Administrative & Operational Support
    • Provide administrative support, including routine data entry, processing receipt submissins, filing purchasing documentation, scheduling meetings, and maintaining program files.
    • Perform other job-related duties consistent with the Program Assistant I classification and Project CREST objectives.
  • Content Skills
    • Experience using standard office software, including word-processing, presentation, spreadsheet, email, and calendar applications.
    • Ability to create, format, edit, and organize written and visual materials.
  • Organization
    • Organizational skills and ability to complete and assist with multiple assignments, deadlines, and event details.
  • Communication & Collaboration
    • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with employees, school personnel, families, vendors, and community partners.
