BCI Records Section Day-to-day responsibilities of this position:The Records Section is responsible for maintaining and providing accurate, timely, and secure Utah Criminal History (UCH) information and supporting a variety of criminal justice and public service functions. Employees in the Records Section perform detailed research, data entry, record review, quality assurance, customer service, and administrative duties related to criminal history records.
This position will research and evaluate criminal history information from multiple sources, including law enforcement agencies, courts, and other criminal justice systems. Responsibilities may include reviewing and updating criminal history records, researching dispositions and court information, processing citations and expungements, responding to record challenges and customer inquiries, conducting quality assurance reviews, and ensuring information is accurately documented and reported in accordance with state and federal requirements, policies, and procedures.
Employees may also assist with the processing and review of requests involving criminal history records, GRAMA requests, certified records, record corrections, research assignments, and other specialized Records Section programs. The position requires the ability to interpret and apply established guidelines and procedures, identify discrepancies, conduct thorough research, and make accurate determinations based on available information.
The position regularly communicates with law enforcement agencies, courts, criminal justice partners, other government agencies, and members of the public. Employees must be able to communicate professionally, protect confidential and sensitive information, manage multiple priorities, and provide accurate and courteous customer service.
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications
- Experience providing customer service in a professional environment, including the ability to communicate effectively with the public, law enforcement agencies, courts, and other stakeholders.
- Experience working with computer systems, databases, electronic records, and standard office software.
- Demonstrated ability to accurately enter, review, and maintain detailed information and records.
- Demonstrated ability to research information from multiple sources, identify discrepancies, and determine appropriate action based on established policies and procedures.
- Ability to read, understand, and apply laws, rules, policies, procedures, and written instructions.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy while working with confidential and sensitive information.
- Ability to prioritize and organize multiple assignments while meeting established deadlines and productivity expectations.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and handle sensitive criminal justice information appropriately.
- Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to learn and adapt to new computer systems, processes, technology, and changing procedures.
