Our client, a large and well-established organization with a growing global footprint, is seeking a Licensed Customs Broker to lead customs compliance operations from their Salt Lake City office. This role is responsible for ensuring full compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations while managing and developing a team of Customs Entry Writers. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical customs expertise with strong leadership and operational oversight.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the company’s Licensed Customs Broker of Record
    , ensuring compliance with all CBP laws, regulations, and procedures
  • Oversee daily customs brokerage operations, including import entries, classifications, valuation, and admissibility
  • Manage, mentor, and develop a team of Customs Entry Writers, providing guidance, training, and performance oversight
  • Review and approve customs entries to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and regulatory compliance
  • Act as the primary point of contact with CBP, Partner Government Agencies (PGAs), and internal stakeholders
  • Monitor regulatory changes and proactively implement process updates to maintain compliance
  • Handle post-entry activities including audits, reconciliations, protests, disclosures, and CBP inquiries
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with supply chain, logistics, compliance, and trade teams to support business objectives
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and service levels
  • Support internal and external audits related to customs and trade compliance
Qualifications
  • Active U.S. Customs Broker License (required)
  • Minimum of 5–7 years of customs brokerage or trade compliance experience
  • Prior experience managing or leading a team of Customs Entry Writers or similar roles
  • Strong working knowledge of HTS classification, valuation, country of origin, and PGA requirements
  • Experience interfacing directly with CBP and handling audits, filings, and regulatory matters
  • Proficiency with customs brokerage systems and ACE
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting high-volume import operations
  • Background in a large corporate or global trade environment
  • Exposure to duty mitigation programs (FTZ, Drawback, Reconciliation, etc.)
