We are urgently seeking a Safety Officer to join our team. In this project-based role with a projected duration of approximately 2 years, located in Salt Lake City, Utah. This is a local position and is not eligible for per diem.

Role Description

As the Safety Officer, you will be instrumental in promoting a safe work environment while ensuring compliance with OSHA standards. Your expertise will contribute significantly to our mission of providing top-tier environmental and safety consulting services.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations.
  • Provide training on health and safety practices, including but not limited hazard recognition, emergency response, and PPE specific to the job.
  • Prepare detailed reports on safety assessments, incidents, and compliance status.
  • Collaborate with clients to assess workplace hazards and recommend corrective actions.
  • Stay up to date on changes in OSHA regulations affecting clients' operations.
  • Assist in the development of emergency response plans for various scenarios.
  • Conduct incident investigations in conjunction with client representatives by gathering data and providing recommendations for improvement.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, inspections, training sessions, and corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with management to develop emergency action plans and conduct drills.
  • Stay up to date with industry best practices and changes in safety regulations.
  • Coordinate with external agencies for inspections, permits and certifications.
Qualifications
  • Five years of proven experience as a Commercial Construction Safety Officer or similar role within the commercial construction safety sector.
  • OSHA 510 or higher required
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA standards.
  • Strong understanding of occupational health principles and practices.
  • Proven ability to assess risks and develop effective Risk Management strategies.
  • Familiarity with construction management software for tracking safety related data.
  • Understanding of workers compensation laws and procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
