Position: Project Manager I (PM1) - Building Envelope Consultant

At J2 Building Consultants, our Project Manager II role is designed for professionals who already have a solid foundation in construction, engineering, architecture, or consulting and are ready to take on greater project ownership.

This isn't an Assistant PM position.

We're looking for someone who can manage projects, build client relationships, perform field investigations, and continue growing their technical expertise in building envelope consulting.

Responsibilities What You'll Do Manage Projects
  • Lead multiple consulting projects from investigation through project completion
  • Develop project schedules, budgets, and deliverables
  • Coordinate internal resources, subcontractors, contractors, and clients
  • Track project progress and manage deadlines
Perform Field Investigations
  • Conduct site inspections and condition assessments
  • Evaluate building envelope systems and construction conditions
  • Document deficiencies and recommend solutions
  • Review contractor work during active construction
Prepare Technical Deliverables
  • Draft and review project reports
  • Document observations and findings
  • Maintain project documentation and records
  • Assist with repair recommendations and scopes of work
Build Client Relationships
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned projects
  • Communicate project status and findings
  • Manage client expectations and project objectives
  • Support business development through exceptional service
Qualifications What We're Looking For Required
  • 3–5 years of experience in construction, engineering, architecture, consulting, project management, or a related field
  • Strong understanding of construction processes and building systems
  • Experience managing multiple priorities and project deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel locally
Preferred
  • Experience with roofing, waterproofing, windows, cladding, or exterior building systems
  • Construction administration experience
  • Field inspection experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related discipline
  • EIT, PMP, PE, RRO, CDT, or similar industry certifications
