Job Summary:

Shaw Construction is seeking an experienced Finishing Superintendent to join our team in Salt Lake City, UT. This role is responsible for supervising the finishing phase of a field construction project, with a focus on delivering high-quality interior finishes on time, within budget, and to the highest standard of craftsmanship. The Finishing Superintendent will work closely with the Project/Lead Superintendent to ensure all finish work meets or exceeds owner and design team expectations.

Responsibilities:

As directed by the Project/Lead Superintendent and for the finishing scope of work:

  • Refine and implement site planning, logistics, and procedures for the execution of finish work
  • Execute the plan for survey and layout; verify the work of others
  • Monitor and communicate the CPM progress schedule for finish scope, and coordinate with the overall project schedule
  • Monitor and enforce the comprehensive project safety & security program in accordance with all applicable safety codes and regulations
  • Coordinate and schedule the work of finish subcontractors including drywall, paint, flooring, millwork, tile, and specialty finishes
  • Refine and implement the project's Shaw 1-2-3 Quality Control program, with particular attention to finish quality standards. Specifically:
    • Conduct pre-phase meetings, first day inspections, and scheduled inspections
    • Coordinate 3rd party tests and inspections
    • Maintain a master deficiency log
    • Document the program in company software
  • Maintain an on-site copy of record documents including drawings, specifications, submittals, and As-Built drawings
  • Assist with submittal review in coordination with PM/PE and Project Superintendent
  • Assist with RFI process in coordination with PM/PE and Project Superintendent
  • Coordinate jobsite housekeeping, temporary enclosures, material storage, handling, and hoisting for finish phase
  • Coordinate with Project Superintendent on Shaw self-performed work including labor & equipment plan, material inventory and control, budget, and code tracking
  • Document project performance including daily reports, time cards, safety inspections, safety training, photographs, schedule updates, QA/QC inspections, subcontractor meeting minutes, subcontractor deficiency notices, and owner notices
  • Manage owner acceptance and punch list completion of finish work
  • Assist with project closeout
  • Perform other duties and take on other responsibilities as required
Education/

Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Engineering is desired, but not required. Minimum 5 years of superintendent experience with a demonstrated focus on high-quality interior finishes. Experience in ground-up commercial, multifamily, hospitality, or high-end residential construction strongly preferred. Experience using Procore and scheduling software (MS Project / P6) highly desired.

Compensation:

$90,000 – $120,000 DOE
