Job Type: Full-Time
About the CompanyWe are partnering with a premier exterior construction and home improvement company based in the US. Since 2020, our client has been committed to raising the standard of roofing. Built on integrity, craftsmanship, and service, they provide professional roof repairs, full roof replacements, storm damage restoration, exterior painting, siding, and gutter services for homeowners and businesses throughout the region. They are passionate about taking radical action to deliver top-tier results and an exceptional "treat you like family" customer experience.
Role OverviewOur client is seeking an experienced and analytical Construction Estimator to overhaul and manage their estimating processes. In this role, the successful candidate will not only create accurate estimates for exterior projects but also build standardized pricing tools that empower the company's field sales representatives to price jobs quickly and consistently. Beyond the initial estimate, this role requires a strong analytical mind.
The Estimator will conduct post-project reviews to compare estimated costs against actual job costs to identify variances in labor, materials, and scope. The ultimate goal is to use this data to continuously refine their pricing models, ensuring maximum accuracy and profitability for the business.
- Build & Refine Templates:
Develop, improve, and maintain standardized estimating templates and systems for all exterior scopes (roofing, siding, gutters, painting, deck replacement, windows, etc.). - Empower the Sales Team:
Create "quick pricing" tools, cheat sheets, and guidelines that make it easy for sales reps to price standard projects consistently and accurately while out in the field. - Review Job Scopes:
Carefully analyze job scopes, field measurements, material takeoffs (including Owens Corning systems), and labor assumptions to ensure comprehensive and accurate pricing before proposals are sent.
- Post-Job Review:
Conduct thorough reviews of completed projects, comparing the initial estimated price against the actual costs incurred (labor, materials, and unforeseen expenses). - Identify Variances:
Pinpoint exactly where estimates were highly accurate and where they missed the mark, investigating the root causes of any discrepancies. - Continuous Improvement:
Use findings from post-job analyses to adjust pricing formulas, update labor rates, and refine material assumptions to improve future estimating speed and accuracy.
- Work closely with the client's sales team to gather feedback on field pricing tools and adjust them for ease of use.
- Collaborate with project managers and field crews to understand the real-world labor and material realities that impact project costs in the Metro Atlanta market.
- Maintain availability during standard Eastern Time (ET) business hours to ensure seamless communication.
- Timezone Availability:
Must be available to work during standard business hours in Eastern Time (EST/EDT). - Experience:
Proven experience as an Estimator, Job Cost Analyst, or similar role within the construction industry. Specific experience in exterior trades (roofing, siding, gutters, and painting) is highly preferred. - Analytical
Skills:
Strong background in job costing, variance analysis, and comparing estimated vs. actual expenses. - Tech-Savvy:
Proficiency in construction estimating and CRM software, alongside advanced skills in Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets for building custom pricing matrices. - Attention to Detail:
Exceptional ability to review measurements, material lists, and labor hours without missing the small details that impact profit margins. - Communication:
Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex pricing data into simple, usable tools for sales representatives.
