Position: Special Inspector (INS1)

Special Inspector (INS1) – Salt Lake City, UT

Join our team as a Construction Inspector on construction projects to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications, and building codes. You will work closely with contractors, engineers, and project managers to verify structural components and materials installation to meet mandatory standards.

Responsibilities
  • Perform special inspections in accordance with project specifications and applicable building codes.
  • Inspect structural elements such as reinforced concrete, structural steel, masonry, soils, and foundations.
  • Verify construction materials, installation methods, and workmanship meet project requirements.
  • Review construction documents, structural drawings, and inspection requirements prior to site visits.
  • Document inspection activities and prepare detailed daily inspection reports.
  • Identify deficiencies or non‑compliant work and communicate findings to contractors, engineers, and project managers.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure documentation meets regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Prefer candidates with 2+ years experience in testing and inspection industry.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and engineering reports.
  • Valid driver’s license.
Technical Requirements
  • ICC Special Inspector Certification(s) – reinforced concrete or structural masonry preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple inspection assignments.
  • Attention to detail and good observational skills.
  • Solid understanding of construction and testing and inspection industries.
Other Qualities
  • Ability to travel – less than 5%.
  • Ability to climb ladders, scaffolding, and access elevated work sites.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to occasionally work evening or night shifts.
