Big-D Construction has an opportunity for a Mechanical Superintendent to join our Mission Critical team based in Salt Lake City, UT
.

Experience/Training
  • Bachelor's degree or 7 to 10 years of related experience working on Mission Critical commercial construction projects; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Duties, Responsibilities and Expectations
  • Provide direction and leadership on MEP scope(s) on data center project
  • Manage safety, quality, schedule, production, logistics and coordination
  • Represents the company in meetings and interfaces with all project stakeholders
  • Coordinates and directs all subcontractor and vendors
  • Works with the project team to establish goals and develop accountability
  • Assumes responsibility for productivity of crafts, efficient use of materials and equipment, and contractual performance of the project
  • Verifies to ensure subcontractor completes the assigned scope of work
  • Seeks to learn changes in the industry
Critical Skills
  • Extensive knowledge of established construction practices, procedures, and techniques as well as applicable local, state and federal building codes.
  • Familiarity with a wide range of equipment and tools and proficiency in skilled construction, and repair tasks.
  • Possess strong computer skills; proficient in MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook.
  • Advanced understanding of construction scheduling and sequencing, and cost control.
  • Knowledge of general survey and layout practices.
  • Ensure all installations meet quality and electrical code standards
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with project team, customers, subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, and employees at all levels of the organization. Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to effectively lead and manage teams.
  • Thorough and attentive to details; extremely organized and able to prioritize and multitask.
  • Ability to proactively plan and identify risks to meet or exceed the deadline while meeting the safety requirements, productivity goals, sustainability goals and quality.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of abstract variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in the workplace.
  • Ability to read, understand, and red-line work orders, budget, change orders, safety standards, plans specifications, shop drawings, submittals, manufacturer’s literature.
  • Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, correspondence, memos, blue prints, contract documents and specifications, and CPM schedules.
  • Possess strong customer service skills.
  • Regular, timely, and predictable attendance is required for this position.
