Job Duties:
This tenure-track position involves a 12-credit-hour teaching load per semester. Our preferred candidate will cover filmmaking production courses at all levels of the curriculum from introductory and General Education classes to the program’s capstone studio/seminar, including the following courses: FILM 2200:
Fundamentals of Film Studies (General Education) FILM 2280:
Introduction to Film Production FILM 2820:
Special Topics in Film Studies (variable) FILM 3010:
Pre-to-Post Production FILM 3280:
Directing for the Screen FILM 3310:
Editing and Beyond FILM 3780:
Survey of Documentary Cinema FILM 3820:
Advanced Special Topics in Film Studies (variable) FILM 4700:
Film Studies Capstone FILM 4120:
Careers in Film and Entertainment Industries FILM 4860:
Film Internship
Minimum Qualifications
- MFA or Ph.D. in Film, Cinema, Media Studies or a related field
- Expertise in narrative and/or documentary production (directing, camera, editing, sound)
- Experience working on professional sets and producing completed films
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in SFX /Practical effects, After Effects, Sound Design, or virtual stages
- Producing and budgeting knowledge
- Experience with and/or knowledge about fundamentals of animation

Physical Requirements of this position:
Light work. Exerting up to 20 lbs of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Use of arm and/or leg controls exerting forces greater than that for sedentary work.
Visual Acuity Requirements including color, depth perception and field of vision:
Required to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; using a computer terminal; extensive reading.
The conditions the worker will be subject to in this position:
None. The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (such as in typical office or administrative work).
