Position: Graphic and Multimedia Designer at Clark Planetarium (OPEN UNTIL FILLED)

Job Summary

Creates graphic solutions for a wide variety of print, social media, photographic, video, display, and presentation projects.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience in Graphic Arts, Graphic Design, Applied Design, Fine Art, Videography, Video editing, Photography or other closely related field, plus skills in use of computer graphics programs and equipment.

Essential Functions

The following duties and responsibilities are intended to be representative of the work performed by the incumbent(s) in this position and are not all-inclusive. The omission of specific duties and responsibilities will not preclude it from the position.

  • Designs and produces a wide variety of print, photographic, display, and presentation materials to promote division and programs.
  • Consults with in‑house client(s) and team to develop design concepts for graphic art. Follows all work to completion, coordinating publication with print companies and adjusting to make revisions and enhancements.
  • Plans and arranges art layouts for printed materials such as posters, brochures, newsletters, reports and bookmarks.
  • Evaluates, designs, and produces displays and printed materials, signs, website content, and graphics for the internet.
  • Edits existing available media for use in Division‑specific facilities, web presence, exhibits and other locations.
  • Photographs programs, special events and staff activities.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of a/v files and still images, including Education/Exhibits, Marketing, and Visitor Services.

Background Check Information

Due to the nature of this position, the successful applicant must pass a required background check through fingerprinting and enrollment in the continuous RAP Back (Record of Arrest and Prosecution Back) program in accordance with current County Human Resources policy requirements.

Working Conditions And

Physical Requirements

Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach. Vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone.

Important Information Regarding This Position

Clark Planetarium is a 7 days per week, 363 days per year operation (closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas only), with operational hours averaging 14 hours a day. This position requires working some nights, weekends, and occasional holidays. Must be able to adjust standard working schedule to accommodate production deadlines as necessary.
