Job Summary

The Bennion Center Events Coordinator works directly with the Student Cohorts Program Manager planning and facilitating large-scale community engagement events known as Saturday Service Projects that take place throughout the academic year. Student Events Coordinators will reach out and connect with various campus and community partners to identify community-identified needs that can be met during a one-time day of engagement. The Student Events Coordinator will work at the Bennion Center front desk and/or the Bennion kiosk at Kahlert Village and will be responsible for welcoming other students, educating about Bennion Center opportunities, and providing exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities

Events Coordinator duties will include:

  • Brainstorming of and outreach to campus and community organizations to identify community-identify needs that volunteers can meet in a one-time format.

  • Recruiting other Bennion Center Student Coordinators and Student Liaisons to serve as site leaders for individual projects for the Saturday Service Project dates as well as orienting site leaders on policies, procedures, data and impact collections, and safety measures.

  • Managing communication with community partners and updating Student Cohorts Programs Manager on changes in scope or need of partners.

  • Working with Bennion Center Marketing and Communications Director on getting the word out about projects and reaching out to the campus community to secure volunteer sign ups.

  • Collecting lists of materials needed for each project and assist the Student Cohorts Program Manager in shopping or purchasing items.

  • Planning engaging and meaningful reflections for each Saturday Service Project.

  • Desk / Kiosk Attendant duties will include:

  • Serving as ambassadors for the Bennion Center at the Bennion Center

  • Kiosk at the Gail Miller Community Engagement Tower (located at the Kahlert Village residence hall) and at the Bennion Center office in the student union.

  • Referring interested students to the appropriate Bennion Center programs and community engagement opportunities both on and off campus.

  • Maintaining inventory of supplies and needs at the kiosk and in the Bennion Center.

  • Guiding and instructing drop-in volunteers on available Service Corner projects.

  • Attendants will assist Bennion Center staff with other clerical tasks to help meet the mission, vision, and values of the Bennion Center.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be a current student at the University of Utah

Must be awarded Federal Work Study
