The Senior Learning Experience Designer, Internal delivers learning experiences that inspire and develop employees. This role partners with others in People Development and across the university to develop solutions that help achieve the mission and strategic goals. This role applies tested theories, practices and methods to their work creating deliverables that are inclusively designed, aligned to outcomes, effective, and efficient. This role supports the growth of others as they develop their design and technical skills.
LocationThis position requires you to work in office 4 days a week at the WGU headquarters: 4001 South 700 East Salt Lake City, UT 84107.
What You'll Do- Elevate organizational-wide learning through AI-native design and leverage AI and other emerging technologies for continual learning and growth.
- Work collaboratively and cross-functionally with business leaders and across departments to support operational and organizational initiatives through learning design that identifies the learning need, implements appropriate learning solutions, and supports effective change management.
- Analyze learning needs and define desired outcomes, target behaviors, and success metrics; translate findings into AIenabled learning strategies and curricula that support operational and operational initiatives.
- Communicate ADDIE informed design process, present design solutions, cultivate consensus and collective decision-making to define project deliverables.
- Create project deliverables aligned to quality standards and learning outcomes, which may include job aids, scenario-based learning, eLearning or hybrid learning, assessments, and simulations. Deliverables, projects, or training needs may be more complex.
- Prototype and implement AI solutions with product and engineering partners (e.g., LLM prompt design, retrieval augmented generation, vector search, evaluation harnesses, guardrails) and integrate with LMS/LRS and enterprise systems.
- Manage learning design projects by establishing project roles and timelines, facilitating project meetings and communication with stakeholders, identifying milestones, deliverables, and dependencies, mitigating project risks, and ensuring quality learning products are ready for project team review.
- Provide accurate time estimates for deliverables and effectively allocate time to achieving goals. Organize and plan work on multiple projects every two weeks. Consult with leader on prioritization or time allocation when appropriate.
- Identify and build ways of measuring learning effectiveness (survey, pilot, learning time, assessment effectiveness); analyze data sources; present results and recommendations for improvements, and implement revisions.
- Coordinate a comprehensive curriculum review process through data analysis, recommendations for strategic improvements, and implementing revisions to learning materials, including deeper patterns of analysis, solutioning, and task delegation.
