Overview
The University of Utah, Department of Neurology, Division of Vascular Neurology seeks to hire three vascular neurologists for clinician‑investigator and clinician‑educator tracks. Junior, mid‑career, and senior neurologists are encouraged to apply, including those needing a J‑1 visa waiver. Academic rank and track depend on qualifications. Board‑Certified/Board‑Elected in Neurology and Vascular Neurology is required.
Division ProfileThe Division currently includes nine stroke neurologists with expertise in telehealth, systems of care, neuroimaging, neuro‑rehab, neuro‑education, and clinical trials. We are a dynamic group involved in leadership positions, including three Vice Chairs. We serve as a Regional Coordinating Center for NIH Stroke Net, a Neuro
NEXT site, and host a CTSA. The Division supports the University of Utah Comprehensive Stroke Center and provides telestroke services to nearly 30 hospitals in six states.
Our outpatient practice specializes in PFO, CADASIL, CCM, intracranial atherosclerosis, and cryptogenic stroke, with clinics for underserved populations through in‑person and telemedicine outreach.
Responsibilities- Primary clinical duties include “brain attack” and telestroke calls, inpatient vascular ward service, and negotiable outpatient and teleneurology responsibilities.
- Lead and participate in expanding the Teleneurology program, collaborating with the Salt Lake City Veteran’s Administration Health Center as a neurovascular specialist.
- Mentor and supervise ACGME stroke fellows and contribute to stroke center quality improvement.
- Develop independent research projects and publish in peer‑reviewed journals; maintain strong training in research methodology for all investigators.
- Board‑Certified or Board‑Elected in Neurology and Vascular Neurology.
- Strong clinical experience in stroke neurology and interest in teleneurology.
- Experience with transcranial Doppler (TCD) preferred.
- Track record of scholarly activity and research interests; young investigators are encouraged to apply.
- Excellent communication, teaching, and team‑based care skills.
