Glaucoma Specialist (Ophthalmology)
Position Summary

A. Moran Eye Center's Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences is hiring a glaucoma specialist to lead our surgical treatment laboratory under Dr. Ike Ahmed. The role focuses on testing new drainage devices, conducting outflow resistance research, and advancing surgical techniques and devices. Clinical care, optional, will occupy approximately 30% of the time, primarily in the main location and satellite clinics.
The position includes resident and fellow teaching and training, and complex glaucoma patient management.
- Lead the surgical glaucoma laboratory, evaluating new drainage device designs.
- Conduct research on outflow resistance and develop improved surgical care strategies.
- Provide clinical glaucoma care (up to 30% of time) at main and satellite sites.
- Teach and mentor residents and fellows in glaucoma clinics.
- Deliver complex glaucoma patient care as required.
- Completed an ophthalmology residency program.
- Board certified or board eligible by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
- Glaucoma specialty trained.
- Experience in surgical glaucoma practice and/or research preferred.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and commitment to diversity and inclusion.
