Overview
The Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at the University of Utah School of Medicine is recruiting a Pediatric Infectious Diseases Physician with a focus on hospital epidemiology. The position welcomes junior and senior faculty, including those with leadership experience in hospital epidemiology.
Responsibilities- Serve a major role in the infection prevention and hospital epidemiology program.
- Provide clinical consultation on the inpatient service and in the Infectious Diseases clinic.
- Carry out clinical activities at Primary Children’s Hospital (290‑bed), the new Lehi location, and the broader University of Utah and Intermountain Healthcare systems.
- Engage in academic work, including investigation, education, administration/service, and advocacy.
- Participate in quality‑improvement projects, outbreak investigations, statewide surveillance, and community‑wide antimicrobial stewardship efforts.
The hospital epidemiology team comprises three Infectious Diseases physicians, four infection preventionists, and additional faculty and staff across two children’s hospitals. Research concentrates on infectious disease epidemiology, antimicrobial stewardship, health‑services research, value‑based care, diagnostic test development, and care of children with cancer and transplants.
Qualifications- Board Eligible/Board Certified in Pediatrics and in Pediatric Infectious Diseases or Infectious Diseases.
- Demonstrated experience in research, quality improvement, or other scholarly activity.
- Interest and experience in hospital epidemiology preferred.
The selected candidate will receive a faculty appointment in the Department of Pediatrics on the Clinical or Tenure track at a level commensurate with experience and qualifications.
