Overview
The Department of Internal Medicine, Division of General Internal Medicine at the University of Utah is seeking candidates for faculty clinician investigators. Faculty rank and track are dependent upon the qualifications of the applicant. Start-up funding is available to establish the investigator in the Division until an independent program is established and/or a career-development award is obtained. These funds are available for salary and program support during the first three years of the appointment to ensure protected research time to establish an independent research program and/or receive a career development award.
The Division is building a robust, multi-faceted research program with strengths in thrombosis, hypertension, and women’s health, and has leadership in quality improvement and value-driven outcomes projects.
The University of Utah offers extensive resources for research collaboration across departments and disciplines. We encourage interdisciplinary collaboration with the Colleges of Nursing, Health, and Pharmacy, as well as partnerships with the Veterans Affairs Hospital and community partners.
Responsibilities- Engage in clinical research and establish an independent research program building on the Division’s strengths while adding new dimensions to the current portfolio.
- Develop and lead research projects, and pursue opportunities to obtain career-development awards.
- Collaborate across University and external research entities to advance translational and clinical science.
- Medical degree (MD or equivalent).
- ABIM certification or eligibility.
- Post-doctoral research training, such as a General Medicine or equivalent clinical research-focused fellowship.
