About the Role:
This is a seasonal, part‑time position, with the potential to transition into a year‑round part time position based on performance and programming needs. As a Summer Camp Facilitator, you will lead hands‑on, engaging STEAM activities for elementary‑aged children, helping them explore science, technology, engineering, arts, and math in a fun, interactive setting in our week‑long camp sessions. You will have access to thoughtfully designed curricula, fully stocked supplies, dedicated support staff, and top‑tier training to ensure an incredible experience for both you and the campers.
This position is a fantastic opportunity for educators, aspiring teachers, and science enthusiasts looking to grow their skills in informal education.
- Camp season runs June – August.
- Staff training takes place the first full week of June and is mandatory.
- Camp programs run Monday-Thursday during scheduled camp weeks, approximately 7:45am-4:45pm.
- Fridays are not regular workdays; staff are expected to attend a one‑hour morning meeting when scheduled.
- This is a seasonal, part‑time position. Staff will be scheduled for select camp weeks and will not work every week of the summer.
- Schedules may shift slightly depending on program needs.
- Lead and Support Participants – Assist in the supervision, guidance, and engagement of program participants to ensure a positive and enriching experience.
- Prepare and Enhance Learning Experiences – Review curricula before programs, provide feedback, and adapt activities as needed to optimize engagement and learning.
- Manage Classroom & Materials – Prepare, set up, and clean up classroom and lab spaces, ensuring all materials are organized and ready for use.
- Model Professionalism & Mentorship – Demonstrate professionalism, compassion, and enthusiasm while fostering the growth and development of both participants and assistant staff.
- Create an Inclusive & Safe Environment – Communicate and facilitate programs with an inviting and engaging approach, ensuring a welcoming and safe space for all participants.
- Collaborate & Contribute – Work effectively as part of a team, offering support, encouragement, and constructive feedback to staff and participants.
- Commit to Ongoing Learning – Attend all Museum‑provided trainings to continuously develop skills and stay updated on best practices.
