JOB SUMMARY
The Elementary PE Instructor is to supervise and teach elementary students; ensuring compliance with program requirements; assisting with parent education programs; and coordinating communications with parents.
Responsibilities
Instruct students in the development of physical skills and abilities (e.g., motor skills, exercises, etc.) to meet the requirements of the State Core Physical Education curriculum
. Operate physical education equipment and playground activities using standardized methodsMonitors individual students in a variety of settings (e.g., classroom, playground activities, etc.) providing a safe and positive learning environment, adhering to safety practicesImplement students' learning and behavior plans to meet students' social and behavioral interventions and health care plans and ensure compliance with IEPs. Provide for the individual needs of students (e.g., assistive devices, supportive technology, assistance accessing facilities, etc.) to ensure access to a quality educational programPrepare teaching materials and related reports, document student progress (e.g., attendance, anecdotal records, etc.) and implement lesson plans; apply assessment instrumentsPerforms record-keeping and clerical functions (e.g., scheduling, copying, data recording, etc.) to support the administratorAssess student learning, participation, and skills to provide quality, age-appropriate instructionManage students’ behavior and conflict, provide a safe and optimal learning environment, and report incidents (e.g., fights, suspected child abuse, neglect, suspected substance abuse, etc.) to ensure compliance with administrative, school policies, state and federal lawSupervise academic enrichment activities (e.g., class activities, field trips, visits by guests, etc.) guiding students in learning from those enhancementsCollaborate with school personnel and parents to improve the quality of student outcomes, develop solutions, plan curriculum, convey information on student progress, and encourage parental involvementUtilize resources from other work units to meet student needsAssists other personnel as required and needed (e.g., instructors, site administration, paraprofessionals, etc.) ensuring an efficient and effective work environmentIndependently interpret guidelines; communicate orally and in writing; communicate with diverse groups; maintain confidentiality; set priorities; work as part of a team; work with frequent interruptions; adapt to changing work priorities; be attentive to detail; analyze issues and create action plans for problem solvingParticipate in various meetings to receive and convey informationPerform other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unitEMPLOYEE

High school diploma or a recognized equivalentPer Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), interested applicants must be Highly Qualified to be considered for the position and have completed one of the following:completed at least two years at an accredited higher education institution (minimum 48 semester hours), orobtained an associates (or higher) degree from an accredited higher education institution, orsatisfied a rigorous state or local assessment (Parapro Assessment/PRAXIS ETS) with a score of 460 or higherThe higher education institution official transcripts, or college diploma, or a copy of the Paraprofessional Assessment must be provided with your application or upon a contingent offer of employment.
