The Principal of the Granite Technical Institute is responsible for providing innovative, collaborative, and forward-thinking leadership to help prepare all students to be college and career ready by the time they graduate from high school.
Directs the implementation of all practices, policies, procedures and protocols related to the operation of a district approved Career and Technical Education program at the school level.
Essential Functions- Provides exemplary instructional leadership and creates high expectations related to student conduct and performance.
- Assures the efficient operation of the school's physical plant, business operations, and other services related to the safe and efficient operation of a school facility.
- Invites and coordinates proper involvement of faculty, counselors, parents, community members and other administrators to provide access for all students and to assure high quality teaching and learning experiences.
- Must have knowledge of CTE courses and programs

- Assists in the development and administration of school programs consistent with school district goals and objectives, including the Granite Way.
- Provides leadership and direction to staff with regard to the ongoing evaluation and improvement of educational programs, including curricular and extra‑curricular activities.
- Promotes a school environment that is safe and conducive to individualized instruction, cooperative curriculum development, and proficiency based student learning.
- Supports students' behavioral goals and administers and properly documents student discipline.
- Assists in ensuring that Board policies and procedures are implemented and followed at the school.
- Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, and/or by conducting research.
- Encourages staff to continue to grow professionally and to experiment with new approaches or strategies to teaching.
- Observes and supports teacher professional learning communities.
- Coordinates the work of school staff and school district program leaders to develop and implement instructional programs and teaching practices.
- Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning, and works with teaching staff to modify instructional methods to fit students' needs, including students with special needs.
- Conducts the recruitment and selection of employees, the proper maintenance of employee personnel files, the administration of collective bargaining agreements, corrective action, and other human resource issues.
- Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
- Ensures that student conduct and attendance adheres to school standards and school district policies.
- Supervises and evaluates career teaching staff and other building employees in accordance with the Granite School District’s evaluation policies, and makes recommendations regarding goals and areas needing improvement.
