Employment Type:

Part‑time.

Schedule:

25 hours per week. Monday‑Thursday 1:00‑6:00 p.m.;
Friday Noon‑6:00 p.m.

Hourly Wage: $19.00/hr.

Job Description

Salt Lake City is looking for Hourly Youth City Elementary Program Instructors to supervise elementary school‑age youth and implement Youth City program goals, teaching in an out‑of‑school‑time setting, program implementation, communication with program staff, data collection, and developing strategies to meet all organizational goals and objectives.

Minimum qualifications:

High School graduate or equivalent, at least 21 years of age. Experience working with school‑aged children preferred.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safely transports children to various program activities within the City.
  • Provides supervision to children engaged in program activities.
  • Maintains attendance records as required by program.
  • Assists with program's grant‑required assessments to ensure program quality metrics are met.
  • Develops and plans weekly activities based on learning objectives outlined by Youth City programs; teaches group activities to youth; participates in all activities with children.
  • Follows program procedures to safeguard health, safety, and well‑being of participants.
  • Prepares, cleans up, and maintains facility daily.
  • Assists in providing daily snacks.
  • Attends weekly staff meetings and training sessions as scheduled; participates in one‑on‑one professional development meetings with Senior Community Program Managers; provides a safe/healthy environment for program participants; maintains and inspects city vehicles according to required pre‑trip inspections; performs all other duties requested.
  • Reports daily to Senior Community Programs Manager.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School graduate or equivalent and at least 21 years of age.
  • Experience working with school‑aged children and/or other related experience.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license or ability to obtain one within 3 months of employment.
  • Ability to demonstrate group management skills and techniques.
  • Ability to work with a diverse population – including both youth and adults.
  • Ability to resolve conflict situations.
  • Ability to deal with youth and adults in a non‑judgmental atmosphere.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate with individuals from different social and ethnic backgrounds.
Desired Skills
  • Bilingual preferred.
Working Conditions
  • Moderate physical activity. Required to push, pull, or lift medium weights, stoop, crouch, bend, exposure to outdoor weather.
  • Exposure to stress as a result of human behavior.
  • Will be required to work evenings and weekends.
