Student Employment - ESL Tutor Certified III; Part-Time

Horizonte Instruction and Training Center is seeking a part-time ESL tutor and Family Engagement collaborator to support English learners in preparation for WIDA testing and lead science-based activities during family engagement nights. Ideal candidates would be patient, flexible, and passionate about helping students improve their English proficiency and academic outcomes. Bilingual is a bonus.

• Ability to read, write, and speak well in English, bilingual skills a plus!
• Desire to work with High school students from various backgrounds and experiences.
• Serve as a positive role model and mentor.
• Ability to work with all groups from a variety of academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, and with community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities.

• Must have an SLCC Federal work-study award through SLCC's Financial Aid office.
• Must be able to earn a Work Study award.
• Must be enrolled in 6 credit hours per semester.
• Must work at least 10 hours and no more than 20 a week during the semester
• Must be comfortable talking with students, staff, and faculty.
• Must have basic computer skills.
• Program Associates may create their own work schedules within available hours at their school sites.
• Must commit to attending an orientation and team meetings at the outset.
• Must be able to leave campus and access the partner site using their preferred transportation method.
