Job SummaryThe Department of Neurology is seeking a Grants and Contracts Officer to facilitate the grant process, pre- and post-award. Coordinate research, prepare, finalize, submit, and follow up on industry, foundation, and/or government grants. Research and draft proposals, develop budgets, and manage the submission process, ensuring deadlines are met. Process grant reconciliations, maintain records, and communicate with funders. Establish relationships with foundations.
This position provides complex administrative support for various Principal Investigators and their labs. The desired candidate will have demonstrated strong organizational capacity, excellent communication skills, and the ability to balance priorities while ensuring follow‑through with a diverse set of responsibilities. This position will be primarily remote with occasional days in the office.
- Facilitate pre‑ and post‑award grant processes, coordinating across departments.
- Research and draft proposals, develop budgets, and manage submissions to industry, foundation, and government funders.
- Ensure deadlines are met and process grant reconciliations while maintaining accurate records.
- Communicate with funders and maintain relationships with foundations.
- Operate with minimal supervision, exercising independent judgment on complex, high‑importance work.
- Primarily remote; occasional office days.
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalency) plus at least six years of directly related experience, or master’s degree (or equivalency) plus at least four years of directly related experience.
- One year of higher education can substitute for one year of directly related work experience (e.g., a bachelor’s degree = four years of experience).
- Familiarity with University pre‑award systems, processes, and policies.
- Familiarity with University post‑award systems such as management reports, chart fields/account codes, Djobs, and ePAR.
- Developed specialized or multi‑skilled through job‑related training and on‑the‑job experience.
