Job SummaryThe Upward Bound Project is a federally funded program to encourage post-secondary preparation of high school students who are from low-income families and are first-generation college-bound students (the first in their families to go to college). The summer academy for 2026 consists of an intensive, six-week in-person academic program during which the students receive high school enrichment instruction in English, financial literacy, foreign language, mathematics, and science.
Supervised recreation, guidance, and peer advising, and career exploration are also provided. Teachers will assist with the coordination, design, and production of classes for Upward Bound Academy in classrooms on campus.
- Create & implement a curriculum & syllabus to embody the summer program theme.
- Assists in developing and conducting of training sessions on subjects related to area of assignment. Assists in coordination, design and production of educational activities.
- Assists in development of new ideas regarding educational programs.
- Assists in development of workshops, brochures and educational materials.

Applications will be accepted for individuals with experience in the following school subjects:
Math:
Math 1, Math 2, Math 3, and Utah’s Common Core Math Standards
Science:
Biology, Astronomy, Robotics, Computer Science, Physical or Earth Sciences, develop a curriculum to meet the project objective
Three years experience as a classroom assistant in a related academic area, or equivalency; knowledge and understanding of a variety of teaching methods to adjust activities/training session to include participants of different ages; a thorough knowledge of related academic subjects to participate in developing classroom activities/programs; and demonstrated knowledge of teaching methods and communication skills to conduct educational activities and/or training sessions clearly and concisely required.
Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills are also required.
Department Specific
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in education and/or instructional topic; one year of teaching experience at the secondary or college freshman level. Secondary certification or graduate students are preferred.
