The Learning & Development Advisor at Stadler will oversee the coordination, support, and continued development of the apprenticeship program in collaboration with the Salt Lake City School District, Salt Lake Community College, and industry partners. This role is responsible for facilitating student recruitment, managing day‑to‑day program logistics, providing consistent academic and program support, and guiding apprentices throughout their three‑year journey. Serving as a key liaison between internal teams and external stakeholders, the coordinator also tracks student progress and handles essential administrative functions.
KeyActivities
- Partner with Talent Ready Utah and industry partners to recruit apprenticeship cohorts through classroom presentations, job fairs, and parent engagement events.
- Coordinate with participating schools to ensure transportation logistics, including bus scheduling for first‑year apprentices.
- Collaborate with Work‑Based Learning (WBL) coordinators at each school to support student success and conduct evaluation reviews each semester.
- Serve as the primary liaison with Salt Lake Community College (SLCC), scheduling meetings and coordinating semester check‑ins and capstone projects.
- Manage and process tuition invoices three times per year.
- Facilitate on‑site tours and deliver program presentations to promote awareness and engagement.
- Monitor and update student academic progress in the degree tracker system; provide regular, constructive feedback to apprentices to foster a growth mindset and encourage continuous improvement.
- Conduct regular student check‑ins to support academic planning and ensure timely graduation, including assistance with course scheduling.
- Organize weekly study hall sessions for apprentices.
- Participate in quarterly meetings with the TRAC core team to provide program feedback and support expansion initiatives.
- Lead the planning and execution of the apprenticeship graduation ceremony.
- Collaborate with Vocational Trainer to ensure program is running efficiently.
- Evaluate program effectiveness through metrics like skill acquisition, apprentice retention, and transitions to employment or higher education, adjusting the program to maximize impact.
- Offer coaching to help apprentices overcome challenges, such as managing stress, navigating workplace dynamics, or planning for future education or careers.
- Design and develop training materials, including e‑learning modules, instructor‑led courses, and hands‑on activities, to support apprentice skill development and program objectives.
- Conduct needs assessments to identify skill gaps and align learning objectives with industry requirements and apprentice career goals.
- Facilitate workshops and training sessions, incorporating instructional design best practices to enhance engagement and knowledge retention.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through assessments, surveys, and performance metrics, iterating content to improve learning outcomes.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure training content is accurate, relevant, and up to date with industry standards.
- Implement blended learning strategies, combining in‑person, virtual, and self‑paced learning to accommodate diverse learning styles and schedules.
- Bachelor’s degree in instructional design, education, business, social work, or a related field
- Experience mentoring young adults from economically disadvantaged populations
- 5+ years of experience in program coordination, student services, workforce development, in K‑12, higher education, instruction design or related field
- Strong organizational and time management skills to manage program logistics while prioritizing apprentice development.
