Kearns High School Head Football Coach - Licensed Teacher (1 FTE) - 2026-27 School Year Eligibility & Licensure Requirements
  • Current Utah Secondary teaching license, a current out-of-state license, or a bachelor's degree with Associate Educator License (AEL) approval.
  • Upload the following documents, depending on your licensure situation:
    • In‑state or out‑of‑state applicants must upload a copy of the current state license.
    • If approved for an Associate License, upload a copy of the highest university degree (minimum bachelor’s) and the AEL eligibility email/notice from the State Board of Education.
    • New graduates from teacher preparation programs without an official teaching license must upload a conferral letter from their university on official letterhead that includes: the degree earned, the anticipated graduation date, and the type of license and content area(s) recommended to the Utah State Board of Education.
  • Must have officially graduated before the position start date.
  • A copy of the teaching license and degree will be required upon hire.
Teaching & Coaching Qualifications
  • Secondary endorsement required.
  • Previous football coaching experience required, preferably at the high school level. Document related coaching experience on your resume.
  • Successful applicant will serve as Head Football Coach and begin coaching as soon as possible.
  • Teaching position starts with the 2026–27 school year.
  • Must complete the online Concussion Training and provide a printed certificate before coaching. Training URL:

Essential Functions
  • Teach the core content area(s) outlined in the USBE Core Curriculum and adopted by the Board of Education, correlated with other approved learning activities.
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small‑group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of the child.
  • Utilize effective teaching techniques to translate lesson plans into productive student learning experiences.
  • Utilize computers and other technological classroom support equipment in student instruction.
  • Supervise students both indoor and outdoor (e.g., recess duty, gymnasium activities) in all types of weather and air quality.
  • Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere through organization and discipline strategies.
  • Evaluate students' academic and social growth, maintain records, and prepare progress reports.
  • Be familiar with and willing to implement Proficiency‑Based Learning in evaluating students.
  • Be familiar with and willing to implement the Granite Way.
  • Communicate with parents through conferences, phone calls, e‑mails, student planners, the school website, and other appropriate means to discuss the student's progress.
  • Communicate and cooperate with other professional staff regarding the student's academic and personal growth areas.
  • Attendance, physical presence, and timeliness are essential functions of this position.
  • Create an effective learning environment through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers.
  • Provide and maintain a safe and supportive environment in the classroom and on campus.
  • Maintain professional competence through in‑service education activities and self‑selected professional growth activities.
  • Participate in faculty meetings as required.
  • Administer appropriate student attendance policies and procedures.
  • Participate in educator evaluation procedures per district guidelines.
  • Administer group standardized tests in accordance with state and district testing procedures.
